Looks pretty funky :)

Maybe I'm misunderstanding this but you mentioned the following:

"Pro Evolution Soccer's the most critically acclaimed and almost the most popular football game there is and it's about nothing but skill. The last version, at the peak of its rise to prominence, responded by ripping out the crutches used by crap defenders by making you tackle manually instead of holding auto-pressure buttons."

The auto pressure buttons are still there. If we're talking about pro evo 5? Holding the pass button causes the player that you're controlling to generally 'pressurise' the opposing player (with the ball) in an effort to recover it.

Holding the shoot button will cause the nearest computer controlled player on your team to do the same.

As, I say, I might be misunderstanding the quote but it's definately in there :D

wow in this day and age with every company focusing on graphics and not gameplay - suprising to see a game that looks like this, i wonder how interested people will be in it when the UK loses in the world cup (cmon who are we kidding ...)

Very because it's Sensible Soccer! :p

Sensible Soccer is all about the simplicity, pace and action... it's all about getting together with a few mates, a couple of beers and having a fun time, not sitting there drooling over photorealistic graphics. Personally I'm quite a fan of the huge cartoony heads!

Yeah like K says. What UK team?? If theres a Uk team then that means England Scotland and Wales are no more.

I believe you mean England and not UK :p

Anyhow back on subject. I would of prefered them to have kept sensi the same as it was. O what a clasic. This one looks allitle naff with larger players. Its not the same :( But then if the game paly is as fun as the original then ill have to buy it :)

I used to play this on the AMEGA, it takes me back, but im not a fan of football or football at all, dont like it at all.. but the fact that the one of the first games i played was sensi and along iwth a few other games, it opened the door for me.... maybe ill give it a look, but its not as good as the classic, its just repackaged and got some new cell shaded graphics but it is just running on those merits...

Is it just me, or does this remind anyone of, say, Darwinia?

I was not convinced by the demo, at all. the game is too simple, scoring goals is much less satisfying than in a bit more complex games like PES5.

I played PES5 yesterday with my cousin of 25 who had never played it, on the XBOX, it took about 15min for him to figur out which 3 buttons to use (pass, shoot, assist) and what to use the triggers for run/switch player.

about 45 minutes later we came down from first me dominating him with 6-0 score to a nerve wrecking 1-1 and me scoring 2-1 in in the last minute of the 2nd extra time. I think the coolest thing about PES5 is how the ball physics were made, if you push the "pass" button the ball is kicked towards the other player, but somebody who's able to slide in, put his back against it etc will make the ball change direction in a realistic way, it's not a straight point A to B game (PES4 is more like that) and it adds a lot to the realism of the game as well as make the game challenging yet not too difficult to play.

SS can be master in like 5 seconds, scoring goals becomes a routine once you figure out at what position to fire you shot and apply X after effect. the same can not be said of PES5, where every goal is quite unique, and after about 500 matches I've yet to see a goal that's scored in the same way; there's always a small variance or change which leads to a different outcome.

in short, Sensi did bring up fond memories of the original Sensi Soccer and Sensi Soccer World which I've played for ages; but it's lack in depth is quite a disappointment.

it's true that PES5 can be complicated.. if you want to, you can analyse every play in the game, prepare set pieces, detail the stats of each player, it's very very very detailed, FIFA is nowhere near it in comparison; but you don't have to do anything with those stats and settings if you don't want to, the game plays fine without you having the meddle with any of those settings, you can define for yourself how complicated you want to make it.
