More expansions? Bloody quick :/

I see they're bumming the UK/Europe over the cost of them as well.
Quote Marquee 12th January 2006, 19:32
Since I am a BF2 game owner. I am happy in a way and really mad. The thing is that BF2 was released with a preview video of the expansion. I think the BF2 game was rushed and should have been biger game including the special forces expansion. But this expansion is cheaper thank god. But god damn EA.

OMG no more pronoing. I hate when people do that. You sneak up on them and start ripping a clip into there back and they turn around and prono and end up killing you. I was all ways pissed about the super fast pronoing and also the bunny hoping.

Time to upgrade some more, now.

By the way, I feel sorry for THIS GUY. Talk about a pain in the as$. LOL

* United States: US$9.99
* Europe: €9.99
* UK: £9.99

9.99 USD United States Dollars = 5.67708 GBP United Kingdom Pounds
9.99 EUR Euro = 6.82991 GBP United Kingdom Pounds

Seems the UK Market is getting dumped on here due to the economy, only by a small ammount, but still.
Quote DarkReaper 12th January 2006, 19:41
Getting dumped on is right, more than a small bit as well! Nearly twice as much is fairly insulting tbh
Quote The_Pope 12th January 2006, 19:50
DOH - my sincere apologies to everyone: readers, DICE and EA. That was my typo! The UK pricing is in fact £5.99, so as you would expect, UK pricing is perfectly comparable.

Lesson learnt: don't copy & paste without being careful!

Again, sorry for the confusion!
Quote Hamish 12th January 2006, 20:03
dear god again? have they even fixed the bugs from the first vanilla version of bf2 :\
im not going to buy any of these expansions til they do that
and probably not even then, i like dod:s better and it was only $20 or something :p
Quote OtakuHawk 12th January 2006, 20:12
we FINALLY get the P90. thank god.

Now the only thing I need is the AH-6 Loach and KA-52 Alligator

both attack helicopters.

*claps twice*

Get to work, slaves!

I still need to buy Special Forces but I have no real reason to except for the zip lines. I already waste enough time trying to parachute behind enemy lines from 1000ft in the air....can't imagine how much time i'd waste running zip lines across the entire map.
Quote Firehed 13th January 2006, 00:20
You expected differently? I had figured all you Europeans would be used to it by now.

Though according to Pope, you're now only getting screwed out of about forty cents.

edit - meh, damn, why isn't "quote selected" auto-checked? :(
Quote pillow 13th January 2006, 01:23
****, now i have to buy three games when i get bf2, if i ever get the money for it.
Quote metarinka 13th January 2006, 04:53
betcha they will make em in some sorta huge "armageddon pack" as they always do for games with a million or even 1 expansion pack. $10 isn't bad at all when I factor in how much my friends pay a year for WoW. Not to mention how fun that game is. The only bummer is that some maps and such appear very heavily weighted when there's sub 20 people, making it not really a lan party sorta game.

hopefully you won't need the Bf2:SF to play these packs altho its kinda whack that SF players get extra weapon upgrades, it makes the medic one of the better classes.

So if you're jumping over a barrier to shoot someone who is laying prone behind it, you can't shoot them as you come over it? That's kinda lame imo.
Quote Sim0n 13th January 2006, 06:57
Sinz, considering you would never really be able to do it will a full assault rifle in real life, i wouldnt call it lame.
Quote Harlequin 13th January 2006, 07:12
The XBOX booster is FREE. The PC (the one that made EA important with the BF series) is charged
Quote Gordy 13th January 2006, 09:46
At least they aren't charging 20 quid like they did for special forces.

I still think they should all be free like the updates that steam produce. I know they have to make money but if they charge for them, not everyone will get them and it means they will be pointless in the long run as everyone will go on playing as they did before.

I also wouldn't be able to walk up to a guy tossing little first aid kits around and be fully healed after getting shot either.

As much as I don't want to become one of the wandering horde of people who whine about the price and number of bugs in the BF2 sub-series of games, yet still buy the game, I'm quite annoyed at this. One expansion (which I bought without being too bothered about the price) is fair enough, but it seems as though they're just churning out unimaginitive crap which simple adds to the variety rather than the quality of gameplay.

Of course a booster pack should have similar gameplay to the original (why wouldn't it since it's just to add extra features?) but I'd be more willing to pay for something like this if the actual content added a new element of tactics to the game, rather than simply having more stuff to put holes in people with.

I must admit the screenshots look good, but no better than any of the (free) mods are, or will be, and you don't have to shell out £6 for every few weapons with them.

To [sinz] and Sim0n, it's not worth arguing about what should be included in a game since you're either going to get an incredibly realistic game with all of the gritty (and most importantly, boring) elements to it, or a fun first-person shooter which doesn't require three months of tactical planning and evasive brow mopping. The former would please those who thrive on realism but does it make a good game? I think the main issue that the changes are attempting to address is that certain activities are seen to be unfair - most of the game is unrealistic (you can't take a pistol shot to the head then swim two miles in real life yet the BF2 e-soldiers would have no trouble) but as long as it doesn't degrade the quality of gameplay what's wrong with having a few irregularities in there? No, you can't throw medic packs to heal people fully in real life, nor can you shoot a helicopter with a tank shell and have it fly away relatively unharmed. But with the few inconsistencies with real life, some are more detrimental to gameplay than others. In my opinion the only reason people complain about dolphin-diving is that their reactions aren't fast enough to kill someone before they're killed themselves. The features that are whined about enough simply get taken out so that EA & Dice can continually increase sales.

I think that the new expansions bring some welcome new content (I'm very keen on trying the new sniper unlock) but the price is a sticking point for me, and something which would prevent me buying the booster packs on principle because they should be free.
Quote metarinka 13th January 2006, 20:42
its obvious that these mini-boosters could of been added in the original came, most exploits, balancing and bugs can only be fixed when they are found. So to say that so and so such as dolphin diving or prone issues are a problem is sorta moot as everygame will have this issue. as long as they are committed to fixing them (which they seem to) then I'm fine with it. Also like most any team fps there will be balance issues. I think they have done an amazing job of balancing gameplay enough that you can have air, vehicle and ground troops and not have them all work in sync. Still if any of you guys are a WoW player you shouldn't be complaining about a $10 booster pack as WoW is $15 a month whether you play or not, and as much as I would like to have free content I'm satisfied paying a few bucks to get some new weapons and tanks and such.

Yeah sorry, I managed to blur the boundaries between new content addition and simple patch fixing before, but I suppose my general view is that the original game and/or SF should be perfected (obviously never going to happen, I mean as close to as possible) before the torrent of booster packs is released.
