Hmmm, soldner was teh sex, i still play it once in a blue moon

BF2 WILL be amazing once they start releasing patches, if they dont, then i will have to send them a few emails telling them to (not that i have much of a say really, seeing as im just one of the people that actually supported them by buying the game - sarcasm)

stupid thing is they shouldve made the singleplayer customizationable (if thats a word - im too tired)

they also should have included more modes in multiplayer, like BF1942 had, and a co-op mode wouldnt have gone a miss

with my xfx 6600GT on high settings without aa or 2aa on the demo, to be honnest the gfx look c**p compared with some of the shots :( :'(

Do everyone a favour, including your webserver, and resize that 1650-wide screenshot to something less that 900 pixels please mate. And if the point is to show off the detail at high res, us the URL tag rather than IMG

Haven't patched my copy yet, but played straight from box BF2 1.0.2 or whatnot and it ran pretty well then blue screened and froze :( then restarted bsod again (no error message though) same thing happened to like 3 other people at the lan, no clue why.... hopefully the patch fixes it, other than that AMAZING game

Quick performance notes:

*Runs great at 1280x960, medium detail, 4xAA, no patches

*Crashes a lot without latest Radeon drivers

*Crashes a lot with 3 monitors enabled

*Crashes a lot with the new patch installed

Specs:
RADEON 9800 Pro
2GB ram
Athlon 64 3400+
MSI K8T Neo

Why doesn't anyone do benchmarks of games with the 9800 series? The 9800 pro seems to perform better than the low end of the current generation cards. My current machine is a year and a half old, and Battlefield 2 runs great.

Because if someone is going to buy a new computer (midrange), chances are that they get a new gen mid range card like a 6600 or an X700 rather then last generations high end card (9800pro/XT)

that'll be very choppy on some of the maps...
Quote Hamish 19th July 2005, 13:33
yea...
i ran 1024 med no aa with my 9800 and got about 40fps all the time
with x800xl i run 1280 med no aa and get about 70-80fps all the time
Quote frodo 19th July 2005, 13:42

I can't remember the name of the level... it's the second from the bottom in the Single Player list... pretty intensive with all of the post processing and fog that is going on in that map. :)

You damn living pc hardware commercials.....

Oh yeah I ran 1284035x86402 with AA, AS, AB, BC enabled and i got like 70-90 FPS all the time..... It's like friggin awesome...

Now I wanna upgrade..... :'(

Now that I think of it, whole life is a damn long commercial... You can choose so many products, but they all have cholesterol...and you always end up in the same place.

As for BF2, well I play that game and I did not look to see how many FPS I'm getting, I don't wanna know :p I can shoot people, I can fly a plane... I can actually enjoy the the screenshots (after apllying smart blur filter)... 1 problem though That game damages my eye sight so much. The stupid AA filter that I use is too strong for my eyes since I don't ussually wear glasses thus I get eye strain. Looks so much better though.

I fly the chopper on Kubra Dam all the time without any problems, with 32 or 64 people. That one's pretty intensive. A lot of the chinese levels with aircraft seem pretty complex, but it's smooth as glass at the settings described.

Now, on High quality instead of Medium quality, we're talking about a slideshow. :) But, I can't see a huge quality difference between high and medium when playing, so I can't justify a new x800.

hopefully they add co-op mode in a later patch, and maybe a few more other modes, as 1942 had like 8 modes!

In case you weren't aware, you can run a single player game (admittedly 16-player map version only at present) and then have your mates join your game where they take the place of a bot when they join.

all they need is your local IP, which is diplayed in the loading screen near the bottom above the server message box.

If they want to join from remote, free up the ports that BF2 needs (there are quite a lot, just use DMZ option to your local IP if you have a firewall router) or turn off your Firewall while playing it if you know enough to not be too scared to leave your machine 'naked' for a while. Don't forget to give them your external IP if they want to connect to you via the internet. your router should direct them to your game, if all the ports are available, when they try to connect.

Then you can play a co-op based game with mixed people and bots. is good for messing about and teaching mates little tips and tricks, and even more fun blowing up the bots while waiting for mates to join.

Hope this helps people.

Have fun.

you canhave mates join you in a single player game, just give them your IP.

If you want more info, I have posted a more descriptive post on here, or just ask.
