Palit launches three slot monster graphics card

Revolution 700 Deluxe offers four types of port on a single card, as well as plenty of exhaust vents

Palit Revolution 700 Deluxe

It’s fairly common for a hefty third-party graphics card cooler to take up more than a couple of slots in your case, but it’s not often see you a fully-fledge three-slot cooler on a graphics card as standard. This is what makes Palit’s new Revolution 700 Deluxe particularly interesting, especially as the company designed the cooler itself.

Palit appears to have put the extra space to good use as well, providing exhaust vents on the second and third slot and featuring every single input you could possibly want. This includes a lone analogue VGA port on the second slot, as well as HDMI, DisplayPort and Dual-Link DVI inputs on the first slot.

The cooler itself features four heatpipes and two temperature-sensitive PWM-controlled fans, which Palit says allow the cooler to run quietly when the GPUs’ gaming power isn’t needed. Cheekily, Palit claims that the card’s GPUs are ‘pre-overclocked’ to 750MHz, although anyone who’s familiar with the standard 4870 X2 specs will know that this isn’t an overclock at all. However, the card’s 2GB of GDDR5 memory has been given a slight overclock from 1.8GHz (3.6GHz effective) to 1.9GHz (3.8GHz effective).

It’s not a card that’s going to give you a big leap in speed over standard Radeon HD 4870 X2 cards, but it’s interesting to see a custom cooler from a graphics card manufacturer that offers extensive exhaust vents, as well as so many ports on the card. This is certainly an improvement over the custom cooler on Sahhpire’s Radeon HD 4850 X2, which sacrificed exhaust vents for extra DVI ports, although the Palit card could push some hot air out of the front of the cooler too.

Would you be happy to give up three slots for a graphics card if it was quieter and cooler than a standard card, and would you be interested in the choice of ports available on such a card? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
