Enter our Mod of the Summer competition to be in with a chance of winning £500
This summer might go down in history as one of the biggest disappointments of the year, but at least there’s a good excuse to stay indoors and get out the Dremel, particularly as you could win half a grand in our modding competition. Custom PC has teamed up with UK retailer SpecialTech and modding kit manufacturer AC Ryan to create the Mod of the Summer competition, and there are two £500 cash prizes up for grabs.
The first will go to the creator of the mod that the Custom PC team like best, and the second will go to the creator of the mod that Custom PC’s readers like the most. So, if you’ve got a water-cooled Shuttle box, a Mini-ITX Millennium Falcon or anything else that makes your PC stand out of the crowd, then take your browser over to the Mod of the Summer homepage.
To qualify for entry, the PC needs to have been modded by yourself, and you need a good range of photos that demonstrate the finer points of your work. The pictures need to be no larger than 2MB each, and need to be submitted in JPG, GIF or PNG file format. You’ll also need to fill in an entry form, give your mod a name and describe anything special about the mod, such as your inspiration, which bits required particular hard work and how you got around any problems.
Even if you have the modding skills of a spaniel with a hammer, it’s still worth heading over to the Mod of the Summer gallery so that you can cast your votes for the winner of the second cash prize. Each mod needs at least five votes to qualify for entry, after which the average score will be displayed. Each mod can be scored from one to ten, depending on how good you think it is. When the competition closes, at 6pm on Thursday 30 October, the mod with the highest score will bag the £500 prize.
