We could be bidding farewell to laser mice next month, if Microsoft’s teaser graphic is to be believed
First there were mice with balls that got clogged up with dirt, then there were optical mice with a pretty red glow and then there were high-resolution laser mice with spaceage designs. You might think that this would be enough for gamers looking for accuracy, but a new teaser graphic on Microsoft’s Hardware website suggests that Microsoft has a brand new peripheral on the horizon, and that it will be even better than a laser mouse.
Unfortunately, we couldn’t get to the site without going to an international redirect page. However, Todd Bishop at SeattlePi has a screenshot of the graphic from the US side and says that Microsoft is planning an event in Seattle to launch the new hardware. According to the graphic, the launch date of the new product is 9 September this year. With a caption that reads: ‘Say Goodbye to Laser,’ the graphic hints at a new form of mouse technology, but we don’t know what the seven blue pads are implying.
Could this be hinting at a form of Microsoft’s multi-touch technology that it recently demonstrated, or could it be a completely new mouse technology? What would you like to see in a new mouse? Let us know your thoughts.
