OCZ launches 2GHz water cooled DDR3 memory

New super-fast memory kits can be water-cooled, and contains all the required tubing and barb adaptors

OCZ may have already been beaten to the 2GHz (PC16000) memory post by Corsair back in February, but that hasn’t stopped OCZ from trying to up the ante with a new 2GHz DDR3 memory kit that can even be water cooled.

OCZ's newly announced 2GB (2x 1GB) 2GHz DDR3 memory kits have latency timings of 8-8-8-28, while Corsair’s equivalent memory has latency timings of 9-9-9-24. As well as this, OCZ is also hoping that the memory’s Flex II heatsink will lure you its way.

The heatsink allows the memory to be cooled passively, but it can also be hooked up to a water loop. OCZ will be including 3/8in and 1/2in barb adaptors in the package (the barbs on the heatsink have an inner diameter of 1/4in), plus 40in of tubing and a four-way manifold barb. When connected to a water loop, the Flex II heatsink will direct the coolant over the memory chips.

The catchily named OCZ3FXT20002GK modules are specified to use a voltage of 1.9V, but OCZ says that overclockers can over-volt the memory to up to 1.95V before they invalidate their warranty.
