Inside the Nvidia GeForce 9800 GX2

It’s got two PCBs, it costs £376 and it’s bigger than some dogs. The GeForce 9800 GX2 is no ordinary graphics card, and while many people would be happy to shove it straight in their PC and watch the frame rates go up, we couldn’t help wanting to dissect it to see what makes it tick.

Just what goes on under that colossal cooler? How do the two PCBs fit together? How big is the 9800 GX2 in comparison to a normal graphics card? All these questions and more are answered in our simple video below, where we attempt to satisfy your nose for curiosity by taking apart a GeForce 9800 GX2.

As you no doubt already know, the GeForce 9800 GX2 is Nvidia’s first official dual-GPU graphics system since the acclaimed GeForce 7950 GX2, but it’s quite a different beast, using a single cooing system to cover the two PCBs.

If you want the full skinny on the card, as well as its performance in games, then make sure you check out our full review of the GeForce 9800 GX2.
