Verdict: Very cheap, high-frequency, SLI-ready, overclockable RAM.
This incredibly long named kit of PC2-8500 DDR RAM impressed us so much when we first reviewed it last month that we wanted to test it again up against the best the memory industry has to offer in a Labs test.
Despite the in-your-face Nvidia SLI branding, this kit is manufactured by OCZ, not Nvidia. As it's a PC2-8500 kit, the OCZ2N1066SR2GK is rated to run at up to 1,066MHz at fairly standard 5-5-5-15 latency timings, although it requires 2.3V to do so.
As its name suggests, this kit supports EPP, which is sometimes also known as SLI memory. EPP will enable the RAM to be overclocked to its highest safe frequency in compatible motherboards. Thanks to its impressive technical specifications, the OCZ2N1066SR2GK is ideal for heavy overclocking.
The good news is that the modules will happily run much faster than their guaranteed 1,066MHz, and worked stably at 1.2GHz when we increased the voltage to 2.45V.
The fact that OCZ can make memory that overclocks to 1.2GHz at its default timings is an impressive feat in its own right. However, when you consider the kit's amazingly low price of £110.26, it's clear that the OCZ2N1066SR2GK is a great bargain too and well worth shortlisting for an overclocked PC.
