i remember i had the Microsoft force feedback joystick, its a fantastic idea and it really alters the game, sadly not much was ever done with it, although there are a surprising number of games that support it

I had the sidewinder 2 from when it came out, its still going strong and atl east 6 years old now i love it...

also i'm guessing that force feedback is widely used to describe a rumble feature on controllers as opposed to genuine force feedback (ie on the sidewinders or a steering wheel that'll push back when you turn...)

Ah yeah but that idea was a bit of a failure since since IBM's legal & IP protection department is legendary & they pretty much wrote the book on IP protection..

It does cast the M$/Novell agreement in a new light though...

yeah very true

Its nice when your flying a ship or something, if you fire the guns the joystick jolts, and if you crash it crashes back into you

Certainly adds to the realism

I know this article in particular deals more with patent law, but our entire court system is screwed up - look at the judge in Chicago who is suing his local family dry-cleaners for more than $54 million (I sh*& thee not).

And well before he sued, he even got his pants back.
