The moral of this story - for goodness sakes people, go and grab your nearest backup recepticle and copy out your important data!
Yeah, seconded. I just lost a whole load of work due to my iBook being stolen. If only this article had been a week earlier. So don't just read it people, go back up. NOW.

Sorry to hear about your loss though. At least you got a new computer fairly quickly, I'm still waiting for my insurance to come through and get a new laptop.

I wonder if the thieves have the audacity/intelligence to misuse my Paypal account or similar? And what happens when they discover they need to charge the thing? Idiots.

Didn't you just get that iBook recently? Sucks for both of you... Two beautiful laptops, stolen.. :'(

Hope Apple has good insurance (haven't had anything of mine stolen, thankfully).

Yeah I had it less than a month and still managed to accumulate a lot of important stuff. God knows what Will's battered old Powerbook had on it :(

You're doomed!

My rehab was expensive.

Sorry for your loss man. On another note seems like its time to do so home security modding, maybe some cameras, sharks with frickin lazer beams on their frickin foreheads, and lots of doors and locks. :p

It's not like I'm not sympathetic to your loss Wil, I really am but make with the screenshot of naked Willowtree please.

Man, It sucks about the whole situation. I was just turned onto the WoW train too. I told my friend not to buy it because I knew I would see it and purchase it myself. I hope your insurrance helps you out and doesnt just...act like an insurance company. And props on the very good last paragraph :P

Ok, I might be the millionth person to say this but how much does Wil's picture look like the cover of Half Life 2?

World of Warcraft is ridiculasy addictive if you ask me, a few friends started playing it and i never caught on (to busy playing Guildwars at the time) but i started it about 3 weeks ago and now im 38, very close to 40 (mount time :D)

Its already saved me enough money from not going out to cover the cost of it!

sorry to hear about the data loss, ive just this second remote desktoped into my server to start a backup going!!!

got me paranoid now.
perplekks45 6th November 2005, 20:28 Quote
Well, 1st of all: This sucks.

But iirc you got all your data stored on a DVD before ripping out your old hdd, didn't you?
Good luck with your insurance. ;)

Wow has made me a zombie!

Just be careful you don't get AIDS :D

Sucks about your laptop though. Good luck with the insurance company...hope you see a dime of that money while you're still young enough to remember what happened :/

firstly, sorry to hear about your loss. It's not just loosing electrical goods, or even the stuff you had on there, it makes you feel uneasy in your home, knowing strangers came in to your house. had the sick audacity to break into someone elses house, their home, and take their stuff. There's a reason why burgulars get 10 years in prison.

but good to hear that things are working out. hope insurance claims work out ok.

Just so everyone is aware, since Wil got WOW on his powerbook, he has been MIA. :)

Could someone message Willowtree and tell him to come back? :D I'd do it myself, but I know better than to get absorbed in that crack.

Cheese 7th November 2005, 20:00 Quote
I bought wow last week, not sure I should install it...

...and you being robbed may indeed be a very bad thing, but silver lining - at least the rumours of you sleeping with that powerbook will die down now ;)
