Another great article :)
There are a lot of people who should read that and think.. for a long time..

You know, I'm pretty sure that people like that are a major reason why FPS games are so popular, deep inside your brain a little dream pops up about the person you're just gunning down is XXX (random forum ****) and so you get to relieve your anger a bit ;)

It just goes to show you that there is always someone smarter than you. Always someone with a difference in opinion. They have a word that describes it and I like that we have it. It's called diversity!!! Who'd a thunk. What fun would the forums be if we all agreed with you? It's all a matter of perspective. Who's to say you aren't the very person you are describing? I mean it's obvious this article was born from your experiences with forum and other such platforms of communication. During these discussions you've obviously ran into people that have taken different stances than you in many different topics. You've obvously been into some heated debates. My question is, Are you saying that you were right and are the foremost expert on every topic and you shouldn't be bothered by a difference of opinion/perspective (making you a hypocrite, might I add) or are you conveying to us that up until this point you've been clueless to the fact that people join and post to forums to make interesting conversations that are sparked by the very fuel you mention in your article. Just my opinion... Does this make me a know-it-all? Naaa! it's just my opinion on your don't subvert the swearfilter - haz article. After all that's what these forums are.... a place to convey perpective.

:D

Etc Etc..

A very valid reply, apart from the personal digs.

Unfortunately you've entirely missed the point of the article and I mean entirely. This isn't about my personal opinions on people smarter than me, I don't claim to know everything, in fact I am more aware of my weaknesses than anyone else in the world. This is about the population of the Internet who transparently argue for the sake of arguing, belittle purely for their own amusement. The kind of people who take a 'debate' and turn it into some kind of zealot masturbation fantasy. People who lie and exaggerate in order to disorientate people with half truths and flimsy arguments.

For example, is there a need for you to be so patronising?.. It's the first personality trait on the road to being like someone exactly in the article.

However, seeing as you're clearly such a people person, you should know more than most that it's easy to spot a 'faker' a mile off. Real knowledge is absolutely blatant, because people who know things and I mean, actually know things, don't act like the hot-headed little brats who simply invent a life for themselves and pull all their clever comments from Google.

However, your post is refereshing as so far it's the only one to disagree with me. That doesn't make me feel like some kind of hero, but it does make me realise that it's clearly a widespread opinion and am actually more in touch with the readers of the article and indirectly, forum members, than you seem to imply.

Good article, well thought out. My only problem with it is the continuous bashing of me by people of whom have no real excuse to put anybody down (if you can't realize your own faults, why point them out to others, and then proceed to put them down because of it?) "They can also type while holding knives at their wrists." Does it not strike you that maybe, a person puts down the knife to type, in a last stitch to save himself? Wouldn't that one's humanity at least try to keep itself alive? Maybe I should show you my scares, but then you would just scream "PH070 SH0PP3D!!" and put me down once again. :) But anyway, enough idle banter. Good stuff, just the same ;).

LOL, reminds me of the other day. I have to share this. I was out in the smoke pit, that's what we call the designated tobacco use area here in Osan AB, Korea. I'm in the USAF, and one of our help desk technicians is down there. He's being quiet, and so am I, so I decide to start a conversation. I ask him if he has a computer, and what he's got in it. In an "I'm better than you" kind of voice, he exclaims, he's got a Radeon 9800 XT, with 256 Megabytes of Ram, and it's the fastest card there is. I smile inside, as I know the Nvidia 6800 Ultra came out recently, and absolutely runs this card over. So I tell him his card isn't the fastest, which quickly puts him on the defensive. He knods, and finally accepts defeat after I told him about the benchmarks, trying desperately to try and prove me wrong. So a week or two goes by, and I go back down to smoke again, and I hear him telling someone else about his computer, and how he has the second fastest card on the market. I politely interrupt, and tell him it's the third fastest, since the new ATI card came out. It amazes me how people have to always try to find some sort of self envy. In the back of my mind, I was thinking how if he had waited 2 or 3 months, he could have had the new card, but I'm sure he doesn't even do the research, and just buys whatever "they" say is best.

Nice article.

why you need to run a game over 26FPS anyway is pointless because everyone knows that’s the highest rate your eyes need to see a moving picture.

thats highly debateable.

personally, i'd rather run 800x600 and get 40+fps, then run something higher and get 20-30.
and tbh, I can see the differnce between 60fps and 100fps.
