I don't normal enjoy reading much but this was absolutely brill!!!

....and the best thing about people like this is, is proving them wrong
then they start diging and diging a big hole trying to deny it, then you
feel like 'my spade is better than yours'

Two words to those people: Motion blur.

Whats funny about this, is that it doesnt just apply to forums.

I'm sure we all know someone like this.
Do you remember your school days, there was always this lonley unpopular kid, at Christmas they would spout out all the gifts they got (all the stuff that you wanted but didnt get), but the strange thing was no-one ever got to see their new super duper bike and full star wars collection.
They had all the latest clothes, but didnt wear them out because they were for the weekend only.
They only failed their exams because of health problems, but would have gotten straight A's otherwise.

Yeh, I think its fair to say I know this person, aka pain in the arse.

EDIT - Oh yeah; fantastic article, well written DAMN GOOD POINT

Holy Zombie Jesus!

I know (unfortunately) about a thousand people like that!
I call them my friends. Doh. :(

Seriously, my one mate who I play HL on LAN with is TOTALLY like that. Heres a couple of his more ridiculous claims:

1. Plays HL with someone who plays for the UK. Yet I thrash him everytime.
2. He is a L33t M@d Ha><><or. Yet he doesnt have a phone line. AT ALL.
3. He is the best HL player ever. Yet he cannot beat Rho-Bot. EVER.
4. Claims to have programmed HIMSELF a MSN chat room 'script': He will also randomly click and type things in and then say 'Oh come on open up the CCB.pax file you b****!' and other assorted technobabble.

Frankly, I argue with him when I can be arsed but I've simply given up and just laugh about it behind his back like good friends do. Ahhh.

(Hope he doesnt read this or he'll blow up my computer with his latest virus that could give Sasser a run for its money! I'm scared! :| )

Then again, having aced the 'Test the nation' quiz the other day, I'm bound to be more self-aware than you muppets.

I read somewhere a long time ago (I think HardOCP) that for some reason that there is a noticeable difference when playing games above 26FPS. I think it has something to do with the fact that if you are playing a game below 60FPS then you can notice the lag or something.

Did you read the article I linked to in my post? It explains why you can see the difference between 30 and 60 FPS.
Quote Kurgen 26th May 2004, 23:34
Thanks for the welcome RTT!

Quack - that article in your link explains the phenomenon perfectly, and should be made a mandatory "sticky" on every game forum on the 'net... :) There's always someone who chimes in with the old "but more than 25 is a waste" chestnut, when frame-rates are being discussed.

So horribly many people out there like this. Not just computer people either, but everyone. "My guitar's better than your's" "My rice-burner's better than your's" Yadda yadda yadda. I hate 'em.
