Gaming 35 – MW3 vs BF3 vs Skyrim

Posted on 19th Nov 2011 at 12:09 by Podcast with 37 comments

Podcast
Clive, Joe and Harry gather to discuss whether Battlefield 3 or Modern Warfare 3 is the better game. Harry even produces actual facts to support his arguments, but it’s all pointless because everyone knows Skyrim is the best game at the moment.

During the discussion, we also talk about whether singleplayer mode is effectively dead with modern FPS games, and whether CoD should be seen more as yearly sports title, such as FIFA or Football Manager.

Gaming 30 – Randomly Random

Podcast
Joe is joined by Paul and Clive to muse about whether Battlefield 3 will really be better than Modern Warfare 3. The hype indicates that the former will be the better game, but Joe thinks they will be much of a muchness.

He’s also changed his mind on Rage, after being allowed to play the first three hours of the game and loving every minute. Previously, Rage has not received much praise, but it apparently plays brilliantly. Listen in to find out why.

We then quickly segue to the news that we could soon be playing one of the most highly anticipated games of the year: Deus Ex: Human Revolution is ready to ship. Yay!

Gaming 24 - A Lovely Battlefield

Posted on 10th Apr 2011 at 10:21 by Podcast with 18 comments

Podcast
Battlefield 3, Portal 2, Alice: Madness Returns and Crysis 2 - those are the topics of conversation this week. We also discuss why StarCraft II is awful, and why Clive thinks Shogun 2 is 'lovely,' rather than 'awesome.'

This week sees bit-gamer regulars Joe, Clive and Paul joined by a fresh face too; our new intern David Hing was brave enough to both lend us his vocal cords and sit opposite Harry this week. That boy has guts!

Podcast
This weeks gaming podcast sees Harry, Paul, Joe and Clive sit down to discuss some of the games we've been playing and reviewing lately. First up for the bit-tech treatment is the Crysis 2 demo which Harry has been playing. It's only a small part of the multiplayer portion of the game but it's an interesting window into what direction the rest of the game will take.

Bit-Gamer Competition #6

Last week we asked you to let us know what you thought about Sony's newly announced NGP for a chance to win one of two bundles of PC strategy games. Now, we announce the winners and set a whole new competition!

First, we'll set the rules for the new competition. What we want you to do this week is either send us a question or let us know which game you'd like us to discuss in our next games podcast.

We have two sets of prizes to give away, one for the forums and one for Facebook.

If you want to enter via the forums then all you need to do is drop your answer in the comments to this article for a chance to win a copy of Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit on the Xbox 360, plus Daniel Wilson's How to Survive a Robot Uprising book!

If you want to enter via Facebook then you should tell us on our Facebook page for a chance to win Medal of Honour on PS3, plus a copy of Chris Ryan's novelization. You can, of course, enter both as many times as you want to increase your chances of winning.

In the hustle of visiting Paradox Interactive in New York, we sadly forgot to post the winners for our last competition. On the plus side, we've now remembered and can reasonably claim that we're just being fashionably late.

Before we announce the winners of the last competition though, it's time to lay the rules for the new competition.

We've got two sets of prizes on offer this week, one for those who want to enter via Twitter and one for those who enter via Facebook. What we want you to do is tell us what you think of Sony's new NGP handheld, which was announced yesterday.

We may have only just come out of our tiny, smelly podcast studio, but we're still eager to give away more prizes in the name of bit-gamer.

This week we've got three PC games to give away courtesy of Paradox Interactive!

Forum Prize - King Arthur: The RPG Wargame
Twitter Prize - Majesty 2
Facebook Prize - Mount and Blade: Warband

We're also giving in to popular demand and opening the competition to the forums - but with a twist. What we'd like you to do is have a go on the Online Videogame Name Generator and see us what titles come out as a result.

Then, if you want to win a copy of King Arthur, post the result to comments thread below this article. If you've got your eye on Majesty 2 then send your title to @bit_gamer on Twitter. Finally, if you hope to win Mount and Blade: Warband, post your game name on our Facebook page (you may have to 'Like' the page before you can post to it).

As we return from our Christmas break, we’ve got another bunch of goodies to give away – this time not on Twitter! This week three lucky readers will win a copy of World of Warcraft: Cataclysm, a matching t-shirt made by Jinx and a copy of Chris Ryan’s Medal of Honor novella.

To stand a chance of winning all you need to do is pledge your allegiance by liking our new Bit-Gamer facebook page. If you want to increase your chances then you can post a message to us as well and tell us what games you are playing at the moment, but you don't have to.

We wouldn’t ask you to do anything we wouldn’t do, so rest assured that we’re already Bit-Gamer fans and we’ve tinkering with Princess Maker 2 lately. Make of that what you will.

Bit-Gamer Competition #2

Congratulations to the three winners from last week, who told us their favourite games ever over Twitter. We sent them each a copy of Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit on PlayStation 3 as a prize, but here's what the winners chose, in case you were wondering:

@dragronphreak - Pools of Radiance Ultima 7
@xmvx - Diablo 2
@Krisposkitt - BioShock

Now it's time for our second competition to celebrate the launch of Bit-Gamer.net. This time we've got a copy of Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood Codex Edition on Xbox 360 to send out - and, yes, this competition is open worldwide.

Bit-Gamer Competition #2
Want to win? Tell us over Twitter what games you are looking forward to!

To be in for a chance of winning, all you have to do is Follow @bit_gamer on Twitter and send us a tweet telling us which game you're most looking forward to next year.

The deadline for this competition is 5 January 2011.

We've already handed out a few unannounced prizes over Twitter too, and we expect to be giving out a lot more of as we've got a ludicrous amount of prizes to be given away. Congratulations to @darth_careful and @alastor2004, both of whom grabbed themselves copies of Diamond Dan on Steam.

We'll be bringing you a new competition after the New Year. Don't worry if you're not interested in signing up for Twitter either; you'll get a chance to win something soon!

Podcast
It's the end of another week and with it comes another podcast to help you fill the empty canvas that is the weekend. This week saw Harry, Joe, Paul and returning team member Ben Hardwidge sit down to discuss the latest goings on and happenings in the world of gaming.

First on the agenda was our thoughts on the results of the bit-gamer game of the year vote. Joe and Harry were both pretty happy with the game that nabbed the top spot but we also talk about some of the games that we thought would be higher but weren’t.
