Gaming 35 – MW3 vs BF3 vs Skyrim

Posted on 19th Nov 2011 at 12:09 by Podcast with 37 comments

Podcast
Clive, Joe and Harry gather to discuss whether Battlefield 3 or Modern Warfare 3 is the better game. Harry even produces actual facts to support his arguments, but it’s all pointless because everyone knows Skyrim is the best game at the moment.

During the discussion, we also talk about whether singleplayer mode is effectively dead with modern FPS games, and whether CoD should be seen more as yearly sports title, such as FIFA or Football Manager.

Gaming 30 – Randomly Random

Posted on 31st Jul 2011 at 11:23 by Podcast with 18 comments

Podcast
Joe is joined by Paul and Clive to muse about whether Battlefield 3 will really be better than Modern Warfare 3. The hype indicates that the former will be the better game, but Joe thinks they will be much of a muchness.

He’s also changed his mind on Rage, after being allowed to play the first three hours of the game and loving every minute. Previously, Rage has not received much praise, but it apparently plays brilliantly. Listen in to find out why.

We then quickly segue to the news that we could soon be playing one of the most highly anticipated games of the year: Deus Ex: Human Revolution is ready to ship. Yay!

Gaming 24 - A Lovely Battlefield

Posted on 10th Apr 2011 at 10:21 by Podcast with 18 comments

Podcast
Battlefield 3, Portal 2, Alice: Madness Returns and Crysis 2 - those are the topics of conversation this week. We also discuss why StarCraft II is awful, and why Clive thinks Shogun 2 is 'lovely,' rather than 'awesome.'

This week sees bit-gamer regulars Joe, Clive and Paul joined by a fresh face too; our new intern David Hing was brave enough to both lend us his vocal cords and sit opposite Harry this week. That boy has guts!

Podcast
This weeks gaming podcast sees Harry, Paul, Joe and Clive sit down to discuss some of the games we've been playing and reviewing lately. First up for the bit-tech treatment is the Crysis 2 demo which Harry has been playing. It's only a small part of the multiplayer portion of the game but it's an interesting window into what direction the rest of the game will take.

Podcast
It's the end of another week and with it comes another podcast to help you fill the empty canvas that is the weekend. This week saw Harry, Joe, Paul and returning team member Ben Hardwidge sit down to discuss the latest goings on and happenings in the world of gaming.

First on the agenda was our thoughts on the results of the bit-gamer game of the year vote. Joe and Harry were both pretty happy with the game that nabbed the top spot but we also talk about some of the games that we thought would be higher but weren’t.

Hardware Podcast 11 - Laptop On Fire

Posted on 7th May 2010 at 10:44 by Podcast with 9 comments

Podcast
It's been a while, we'll give you that, but the hardware podcast is back in town with a jam-packed eleventh episode. Alex, Harry, James and Antony sit down to discuss everything that's happened in the world of hardware since we were last on air.

We begin with Fermi, specifically the rumours that Nvidia is aggressively trying to expand its range by launching a mobile version of its new GPU. How will such a hot chip run in a laptop though?

Next up, we talk about Intel and AMD's new CPUs, including the six-core AMD Phenom II X6 1090T, and Harry goes deep into SSDs. Rebranding, new controller chips and the question of whether all the manufacturers are missing the obvious are all addressed.

Finally, we answer some reader mail and speculate about which keyboard Scarlett Johansson prefers to use.

As usual, you can also win a tat bag choice selection of quality branded merchandise by correctly guessing what mystery item of hardware we're talking about this episode – send your guesses to podcast [at] custompc [dot] co [dot] uk with the subject line ‘Hardware 11’.

As ever, thanks to Brad Sucks for providing the theme song - it's actually his track, Dropping Out of School.

Hardware Podcast 10 - All Praise the Capital of Hardwareland

Posted on 1st Mar 2010 at 12:20 by Podcast with 15 comments

Podcast
The long-awaited (or so we’d like to think) tenth episode of the Hardware Podcast sees Rich, Clive, Harry and James rather confused about tenses and timelines. You’d think that four reasonably intelligent hardware reviewers would be able to understand that if you record a pod on Thursday to cast on Monday, you need to act as if Monday is in the past. Apparently not. Revealed in this pod: the capital of Hardwareland is Gulftown, and the most effective components for an energy-efficient PC.

First off, apologies for not getting this up yesterday, and for it being so quiet the first time - the podcast fairy has been pretty slack this week. This is the seventh hardware podcast, and Rich, Harry and Tim are joined by Asus bod Iain Bristow. If any other manufacturers would like to join us for pod, please let us know and we'll try to organise it. Up for discussion are:
