Posted on 17th Dec 2010 at 15:08 by Podcast with 15 comments

Podcast
It's the end of another week and with it comes another podcast to help you fill the empty canvas that is the weekend. This week saw Harry, Joe, Paul and returning team member Ben Hardwidge sit down to discuss the latest goings on and happenings in the world of gaming.

First on the agenda was our thoughts on the results of the bit-gamer game of the year vote. Joe and Harry were both pretty happy with the game that nabbed the top spot but we also talk about some of the games that we thought would be higher but weren’t.

Posted on 9th Dec 2010 at 14:19 by Podcast with 29 comments

Podcast
We're back on air with another hardware podcast. This week Paul, James, Harry and Antony get together to discuss some of the latest goings on in the world of computer hardware.

First up on the agenda is the new graphics card releases from Nvidia - the GTX 580 and GTX 570. Harry has spent a lot of time with both cards over the last few weeks, so he walks us through what's new about the two cards.

James also puts Paul on the spot by grilling him on what he's been up to with the Sandy Bridge processors in our labs. Obviously we weren't able to go into too many details as Intel is keeping Sandy Bridge performance numbers top secret at the moment, but we share what we can.

Finally we move on to talk about what is currently happening in the world of RAM as the market has seen a number of high profile launches over the past couple of weeks. We also squeeze in the usual guess the hardware competition and a couple of your questions too.

Posted on 2nd Nov 2010 at 11:52 by Podcast with 11 comments

Podcast
Yes, we've finally found time to record a new hardware podcast. Once you're over the shock you'll be able to hear the dulcet tones of Clive, Paul, Alex and James discussing the current goings on in the world of PC hardware.

We start by taking a look at the launch of ATI's Radeon HD 6870 1GB and HD 6850 1GB, discussing where they fit into the market and why we've chosen to call them ATI cards instead of AMD cards. Clive also spells out why ATI seems to have broken its naming convention with the two cards.

The games podcast is back! This time Joe, Clive and Paul are joined by bit-tech oldie Hiren Laxman, who lends his opinions on matters as diverse as the Eurogamer Expo, Crysis 2 and id Software's Rage.

After that, it's on to the age-old topic of 'what have we been playing?', which sees Paul discussing his love of Counter-Strike, Joe ranting about Dead Rising 2 and Hiren pretending to be a cowboy in Red Dead Redemption.

Joe, Harry, Paul and Alex take some time out to discuss Joe's recent trip to Gamescom 2010 and what he saw there. We find out why The Witcher 2 is witchier than any witch before it and why Joe was so impressed with THQ's up and coming Homefront.

Joe also tells us about the spiritual successor to Dungeon Keeper the imaginatively titled Dungeons and explains his continually changing attitude to the new Fallout 3 expansions pack New Vegas.

Hardware 14 - On the Case

Posted on 24th Aug 2010 at 10:15 by Podcast with 12 comments

Podcast
Clive, Harry, Antony and Paul discuss all those lovely (and fugly) cases we're seeing lately, plus a dead-cert sales pitch to Steve Jobs and why SandForce is so fast (hint: magic). Tune in for another trickle of our collected wisdom hidden among roughly 45 minutes of blather.

Gaming 15 - The StarCraft 2 Argument

Posted on 6th Aug 2010 at 14:46 by Podcast with 29 comments

Podcast
Is StarCraft 2 any good? Harry thinks so, explaining that he loves the varied missions and excellent side-content that bolsters the singleplayer campaign. Joe, on the other hand, reckons that the plot is predictable, the writing dire and that the gameplay hasn't moved on since the original.

Now, Joe and Harry go head to head in a podcast that critics are calling 'mildly entertaining' and 'a bit louder and easier to hear than usual'.

Meanwhile, Alex talks about indie art game, Limbo, and ponders whether the games media has a tendancy to get hyperbolic about certain indie games.

On top of that there's also much complaining about the work of Tim Burton, plus some puzzled looks when Alex asks just what American McGee ever did to become famous.

We've also got the usual Guess the Screenshot competition, where you could win a fancy SteelSeries headset, plus reader mail and discussion of many other inane topics.

Gaming Podcast 14 - Of Adverts and Atheism

Posted on 29th Jun 2010 at 14:12 by Podcast with 9 comments

Podcast
It's podcast time, so grab your earphones and pump up the volume for another series of rants and conversations from the bit-tech team. This time Joe and Alex are joined by new team member Paul Goodhead as he makes his Gaming Podcast debut, plus Matthew Lambert who has joined for a few weeks of work experience.

What do Matthew and Paul think about working with at bit-tech and how have the team coped with the ejection of England from the 2010 World Cup? We guarantee you won't find out in this podcast, because we don't talk about it!

Instead, we talk about other far more interesting things - like the merits and faults of APB's in-game advertising, the on-going Steam sale and playing games as an atheist. See? Interesting!

On top of that we've got the usual competition and reader mail stuff, all finishing up with what Alex oh-so-nicely refers to as "the worst end to a podcast we've ever done."

Use the links below to listen to the podcast, which was recorded on Shure microphones, supported by SteelSeries and features music by Brad Sucks.
