Today, we are pleased to announce that we have launched the all-new bit-tech Blog. It's a feature that we have wanted to add to the site for quite some time now, but only now have we managed to actually roll it out. You see, we've had our share of distractions in the last six months or so, which prevented us from finishing this section of the site off.

For those of you who think we're heading down the path of no return, fear not because we're not going to be telling you about what we ate for breakfast (but I had Shreddies and Weetabix since you asked). Instead, we're going to treat the blog as an area of the site to sound off about things that don't fit into any of the news or article categories.

But wasn't that what columns were for?

Yes, in a way, it was - the problem with the columns section though was that it was impossible to write about anything that didn't have enough meat in it to turn it into a column - blog posts can be anything to a few hundred words, to a couple of thousand and for those that are meaty enough to become columns, we still plan to do just that. And they're still in the same place - we've just moved the index under the Blogs section. Jamie explains the reasoning behind this here.

We've already posted a number of blog posts already to give you an idea of what you can expect. I've sounded off about the perceived lack of innovation in the market today following the massive growth in netbook sales, while Richard and Joe have started a few ideas that are destined to become regular features on the blog:

• Hardware that passed away in the labs;
  
• Hardware that fell well short of the mark (epic fail), such that we gave up on the review;
  
• Joe's series of mini-reviews of games that he owns.

Harry, on the other hand, has written about how Football Manager has changed his life. He now loves to smile and ride things in rather strange and suggestive ways - you too could go through the same changes if you play Football Manager enough!

We're hoping that the blog will give you an insight into what goes on behind the scenes at bit-tech and, over time, we're hoping to add a few more contributors and regular features onto the blog.
