I suppose companies would make an effort to present it well to you so it'd be difficult to get an accurate idea of the conditions...

It's like most other reputable ones to be honest - they are migrant workers that stay in dorms right next door. They are educated to do the job they do and they even get a party or something every so often I was told.

You can't really judge it by Western standards, it's a whole different kettle of fish when the level of education is so low and the country of a billion and a half is dealing with 5-10 percent unemployment.

Fair enough, I've just read a truly horrific report on conditions in a Chinese keyboard factory that put 'decent manufacture conditions' on my priorities when buying a product.

Having the M12 500W in my PC since Feb 2007 I've never had any hiccups or anything. Next PSU will be Seasonic again I guess.

The article was a very interesting read as well. ;)
I'd rep++ you Bindi, but you don't really need it, do you? :p

BTW is that a Seasonic built one?
The Trio Truepower series, Truepower New and Earthwatts are made by Seasonic.

it's the usual asian stuff.. the boss (bolo) walks in and steals shangs wife on the line.. shang finds out and chases him around with a knife.. this kind of stuff happens all the time- it's way different than western culture.. what we consider bad conditions doesn't even apply- you would go insane over there :D

I had a friend who built a lot of computers for his business and always used Seasonic PS. So I tried S12s in several builds and nothing I have done phased them, they just keep running quietly. I always look inside all the stuff I buy and check the parts and assembly quality and have never seen a problem with Seasonic, a few others I have used were a little lacking, but now, I just use Seasonic.

However, that got me thinking after reading this article.... are there any PSU's (that are decent) still made in the UK ?

It would be, if the workers do not complain about low payments and accept a hard stool to sit on all day ;)

Morning all

Excellent article Bindi and a joy to read!

Tell us your thoughts on Richards visit/write up to Seasonic's Engineering and Factory Tour, and speak direct with the UKs reps for Seasonic.

Interesting read, but the last section ("Rounding Up") is REALLY badly written.

"Seasonic didn’t even care for us to write something"
"Seasonic has impressed proved to us at least that if you buy it"
"That doesn’t make every product out the Taipei offices a 10/10 Gold seal though"
"unlikely to get any unique incompatibility with new chassis"
"Seasonic also stated that as long as it conforms to industry standard plugs and the ground rules of solid power delivery, but with its latest X-Series PSUs it is changing the game a bit: it's going fully modular"

And there's more...
