Ohhh thanks for this competition! I happen to be a CAD guy. Worldwide too! Will see a submission from me.

Edit: Where can we get dimensions of the existing memory and fins?
Quote Bindibadgi 25th November 2008, 10:22
We're getting them.

So far the DHX+ heatsinks are 8mm wide, hole centre point is 4mm from the edge. The end holes are 8mm in, and the centre one is 62.5mm from the end. The screw thread width is 2mm.
Quote Mankz 25th November 2008, 11:24
How long is the actual DHX unit though? I think I might whip something up for this compo,

Center hole being 62.5mm from the edge. The whole unit would be 125mm long.

Thanks for those dimensions Bindi.

Meanwhile, use the SketchUp model of the Corsair Dominator or the Corsair XMS ProSeries in Jazzle's most excellent SketchUp Component Collection website. ;)

Great resource Nexxo.

Multiple entries are disqualified? What if I send one entry with a buttload of designs? I'm a shotgun technique designer.
Quote Bluephoenix 25th November 2008, 16:50
something fun to do over the break from uni.

I will definitely send in an entry!

also, thanks for the worldwide competition guys, especially with such a focus on innovation rather than something more simple. this is precisely what bit was founded for (innovation in the modding community).

:D

Going to do up a something as well. This should be fun...

I'm not that good with graphics apps but I'll see what I can do :)

and their families are no eligible for entry.

shouldn't that be not instead of no?

[ontopic] hmmm... this is going to be a lot of fun to design.
Quote kingred 25th November 2008, 19:22
You'll be getting a headscrewing entry from myself. I hope you like surrealist layouts.
Quote Nexxo 25th November 2008, 20:41
More useful viweing angles here.
Quote Xtrafresh 25th November 2008, 23:52

Yay Corsair for doing this worldwide!
Plus i like the setup of this compo, this way you actually get some degree of control wether you win or not :p

Wondering about that too... What if i want to design a cooler that bolts onto multiple sticks in a motherboard at the same time. And a single stick cooler.

Is this a general contest. Or is it exclusive to BT?
Quote Hiren 27th November 2008, 09:54
Not sure what you mean, but the competition is open to all bit-tech readers. :)
Quote Bindibadgi 27th November 2008, 15:07
Updated the page with a schematic of the fin-array.
Quote Xtrafresh 27th November 2008, 15:24
by the way, i assume that ownership of the designs ends up with Corsair, and we can derive no rights from Corsair actually implementing any of it?

I mean, i don't mind, but i'm really missing this kind of statement from the terms and conditions...
Also, will all designs be published afterwards? i'm really curious :) Published by you or Corsair?
Quote morph83dk 27th November 2008, 16:44
Well i personally hope they post, if not all of them then, at least a few more than the top 3 designs
Quote Cheapskate 28th November 2008, 17:04
Me too. some of the people here come up with great stuff.

Nice Competition. It's great to finally see a worldwide Corsair competition, I'll certainly be entering.

Hi, I actually met up with Corsiar yesterday. They assured me that are no plans to actually put any designs into production or even make use of them. It's more a fun design competition as they are keen to what of kind of ideas their customers (i.e. you guys) come up.

My understanding is only the winning entry will be published but I'll see what I can do.
Quote TomLeggett 3rd December 2008, 07:43
just sent my entry in =)
Quote tanka12345 5th December 2008, 10:58
Hi,

Have you received my entry (it's from tanka1234567@gmail.com)?
I had a time zone mix-up, I thought it closed at 11.59PM BST, not 11.59AM BST.

Is my entry still valid and in time? I spent alot of time on it, so it'd be a shame to see it all go to waste.

Thanks,
Tanka12345
