They only reason they let Hiren in the office is because (so Joe tells me) he keeps threatening to "bust a cap in yo asses" if they don't. True fact!

True, but compare that to our first flat. We had a mile-long network cable to link together two PCs on a shared 56k connection :'(

That setup was awesomeness incarnate. I have fond memories of lying on my stomach tying grotty phone cables together just to get your (thoroughly illplaced) PC hooked up to the web. And that Ethernet cable was legendary, it went on forever! Ahh, how times change.

Pfft, two PCs? Amateurs, we networked 5 houses on our campus across the road.

lol *imagines* cat5 cable stretching across the road and PC's being pulled flying from desks everytime a car goes down the street and catches the cable. :D

That's just silly mark, we suspended them from the 3rd floor. Then if any birds landed on it we'd use a BB gun

A more practical use would have been to hang your washing on.

Or have it pulled taut and practice trapeze.

Too high for washing, someone threw some shoes over it so we became the Student Drug Dealers officially
kenco_uk 2nd April 2008, 15:25 Quote
Too high for washing? I meant like how they hang it in 'the bronx' (the hood) between two high-rise buildings.

Like that.
DougEdey 2nd April 2008, 15:29 Quote
Not quite that high, but 3rd floor, hard to reel it in for the washing when you're gaming!

Ohh how I'd love to work in a place like that!

*envy*

Well after the intital few days, I think it's safe to say we are enjoying working in the new office.
Dodge 3rd April 2008, 15:48 Quote
Is that working, or "working". Glad the move has gone well.

I'm still amazed they manage to make this pay.

Websites have almost zero operating costs until you start hiring a lot of people, but I'm blown away that the ad revenue and the (minute on PC hardware) margins they cream off the online shopping can anywhere near pay the bills.
completemadness 6th April 2008, 17:25 Quote
i hope you have a good security system, all those mobo's and graphic ...... *cough*

Anyway, nice new digs guys :)

websites have significant operating costs with regards to bandwidth and hosting when you get serious about it, not to mention the hours put in. We simply couldnt do the articles we do without a central office - we used to work apart before bit went pro and it was one article every 3 days, plus the cost of shipping kit to each other and phone calls about content was significant too.

Now we do ~7-10 a week and there are still three in editorial + freelancers.

And yes, we have an AWESOME security system B) and 24hr onsite security :)

Cheese - the reason for me being here, with your Noritake shenanigans.
