Sounds familiar.
This is also the case where I work. I do have two fairly large windows in my office, however they are blinded and I have found no apparent way to open the blinds. Maybe someone at some point in time figured that computer guys usually stay indoors in front of their monitors so they don't really need to see the outside world.

Oh almost forgot; congrats on the new offices bit-tech crew. :D
