Great review, but the fourth pic for the SkyPE thingy is actually showing the ethernet cable, driver disk and adaptor for the gigabyte wireless gaming adaptor.

Just thought you might like to know :)

Weird :/

Oooh, the Q-Be is quite funky...if I had money to burn I'd probably buy one.

[edit]
If you do a bit of searching, you can actually pick these up for £75 & £99 (512Mb and 1Gb respectively).

Also, I can't be bothered to search, but what's the deal with the 3.5mm jack plug? Is there a wired remote attached (hence the extra contact)?
Quote Firehed 4th January 2006, 19:02
Hmm... I wonder if there's acutually anything special about the gigabyte gaming adaptor. There are dozens of similar products available (wired to wireless via ethernet adaptors); and as they don't have "gaming adaptor" as a title, are even cheaper.

That micro mp3 player is a cool idea though. I could see a market for headphones for that with just a little 2" cable attached.
Quote Icecoldbagey 4th January 2006, 19:40
Yeah the Q-Be is basically £99 everywhere for 1gig even PC world in store as well.

Typo on the first page ;) Those MP3 players really are tiny.

It doubles as the USB connection, I think.

Nice stuff

On the Skype bit... has anyone seen a standalone skype phone? What I mean is a device which runs Skype and basically nothing else so that you don't have to have your computer running to use skype.

No, but the Amstrad E3 makes you wonder how cheap such a beast could be. I mean, £29 for all that goodness?

...and see here for what's in the box and its hacking potential. :D

I don't mean to sound negative but normally you compare a pmp to another pmp not to an iPod, also for 200~ you would think it would feel shabby compared to the rest of the pmpm's on the market

Don't worry, MrHaz is a bit of an Apple fanboy, but we've gotten used to it by now :p After all, I'm sure he'll make up for it with the CES coverage :)

I've had the MobiBlu mp3 player for several months and I'm more than happy with it. The sound configuration options are fabulous, the device-to-computer interface is dead simple, and it's way more portable than any other player I've had.

I also recommend getting a ball-chain or clip for it. It's not a pocketable size so I either wear it around my neck or loop/clip it to my belt loops.
Quote metarinka 5th January 2006, 07:37
Been thinking of getting one. I need a small mp3 player to fit in my jacket when I ride my motorcycle. This seems like it would fit the bill. My big question is the max volume comparable to other mp3 or cd players. Sometimes the bike gets a little loud when the engine is revving and the wind is rushing.

I got my girlfriend a pink 1GB Mobiblu player, which she uses every day to wile away the boring daily commute. I also got me a silver one, but so far I haven't really found the time to use it.

As for the review, I honestly cannot see how iTunes integration can be described as A Good Thing, Apple fanboy or not. I always try to stay away from media players and other devices where you need proprietary software to access them, especially if that software has a commercial side to it. That is why this Mobiblu player, and the iRiver range of players appeals to me. You can simply load and unload them using Explorer, just the way I like it! ;)

I'm wondering why after being out for nearly 2 months people are still moaning about the cost of the 360 wireless adapter.
I agree that if all you want it for is gaming then the gigabyte one is better, but Microsoft does have a reason for their choice, you can't stream HD video over 802.11g. There's just too much interference to do it reliably so they decided that the adapter needed 802.11a support as well.
When you compare it to a 802.11a/b/g adapter the price is about the same.

Maybe they should have released a 'gaming only' adapter as well but it's cheaper for them to just have a single product.
