CES 2005 Fatal1ty

Fatal1ty

The golden boy of gaming had a big stand at the show where he was taking on all-comers at Painkiller; he also had some cool hardware on show.

Locked in battle... Zalman were showing off their range of Fatal1ty gear, including this case and the heatsinks mounted on the board. That\'s a Fatal1ty motherboard and Fatal1ty graphics card, both cooled by Fatal1ty fans, all housed inside a Fatal1ty case. Insane!

The CPU fan is a monstrous 120mm model and promised great performance / noise ratio, assuming you can squeeze it in your case; the innovative VGA cooler is on the right. The case is a prototype, but some fresh thinking has clearly gone into it - you can see there are SEVEN (count \'em) hard drives mounted for display, though that\'s a little silly as the AA8XE only has four SATA ports. Either way, their placement was certainly something we\'d not seen before. Externally, the case looks absolutely brilliant - finally a rival to Coolermaster in the high-end desktop stakes?

Abit had their range of wares on display, including these two Fatal1ty motherboards: the nForce4-based AN8 for Athlon 64, and the 925XE-based LGA775 AA8XE for Intel fans. Their X850 card looks substantially better than the reference design, utilising what looked to us like a nicer heatsink and fan assembly.
