"In fact we were pretty disappointed with un-Dragon like quality of the whole shebang"

Yep. The styling is nothing like what we're used to with Chieftec, it looks cheap in my opinion. Seems like my next case won't be a Chieftec, although the previous two were, and i loved them. Corsair Obsidian here i come!

EDIT: By the way, do you guys have a rough ETA on the Obsidian review?

"its 220mm side panel fan bulging out like a tramp trying to steel cheap cider from an off-license"

Brilliant description.

The interior seems a little basic and there is a lot of plastic on the outside, not my cuppa tea to be honest.

Its rather old looking, this was awesome 4 years ago. No bottom PSU mount, no PNP drive mounts with anti vibration rubber. etc etc

I would take that over the Antec 900 any day, even with it's less then desirable side panel. I really like the optical drive locking system.

I have a BA beside me right now. It's great, the panels are twice as solid as anything else i've seen. Not to mention extremely roomy.

When did we go back to the 80's in the styling department? Also te decepticons broke the Mars probes duh!

I'm still using my trusty Black Dragon (one before they sarted coming with side fans) and it's still as sturdy as a bank vault and a peice of cake to work with :]

I had the original Dragon for like 4 years... I loved it, but it just got a bit to big to lug back and forth from school to home every term...

*Sigh*.. too much plastic and looks like a HAF!

typo or freudian slip?

I'll take the thermal performance but would much rather stick with the bravo or molding chassis.

Oh joy, another clone of a case that was never really much good in the first place....

Typo. Corrected, thanks.

It could be subconscious love for the case, but every time I type it's name it comes out as Nice Hundred Two for some reason. Just can't seem to drop the habit :D

Seems like a cheapskate CM Storm Sniper to me. Not impressed.

Never liked the looks of the original Dragon. The word "fugly" comes to mind.

This new one looks like an Antec 900 clone, but the review already pointed this out to some extent.

the large side fans are nice but when they protrude i get the cheesy arnold accent in my head..

it's a toomah!
NightrainSrt4 23rd June 2009, 17:24 Quote
This definitely does not feel like the Original Dragon to me, in any way. Looks like they mated an Antec 900 with a CM Sniper or something and called it a day.

I don't see what differentiates this one from the rest of the pack.

Gee, I wonder what their reference design was?

I was thinking about investing in a new case, the Antec P182 probably, but then I remembered the upcoming USB 3.0 requiring aslightly redesigned connector for maximum speed.
Suppose I'll just have to wait a while.

Problem is chieftec were not the original designers of the dragon, it was Antec performance series.

When i first saw the new case on the front cover of custom pc mag i nearly cried the dragon name is ruined!

The last awesome dragon in my view was the Antec TX-1050B, its not dragon by name but by looks good lord!

They are impossible to find, even harder than finding a Mac G5 case.
Xen0phobiak 25th June 2009, 11:15 Quote
They should have just made the original 3" wider, 3" deeper and added front USB, I'd have been in case heaven then.

I like the Chieftec cases because are all made with full 1mm SECC steel , the front bezel of this case have some similarity with the ANTEC 900/902, but of course the 902 is better because have all the nine front 5.25 ports available to whatever you want to install into them , this Chieftec have the HDD rack perpendicular to the front incoming airflow and this is not good , therefore I preffer the stacker style 5.25 drive bays

I agree , I hope to see other computer case makers using the SECC 1.00mm sheet metal to build computer cases
